Membership in the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra is open by audition to all members of the William & Mary community. All new and returning members are required to audition.
Auditions for Fall 2022 will be held in Ewell Hall (Professor Grandis’ office, Ewell 208) on the following dates and times:
Wednesday, August 31, Room 207, 9am-12pm, 1:00pm-6pm
Thursday, Sept 1, Room 207, 9am-12pm, 3:30pm-6pm Friday, Sept 2, Room 207, 9am-12pm, 1:00pm-6pm Saturday, Sept 3, Room 207, 9am-12pm, 1:00-6pm(Please write your full name, email, and instrument under your desired date and timeslot. Do not edit anyone else’s entry!)
Each audition will last no more than 15 minutes and consists of:
- A selection of a solo work for your instrument (sonata, concerto, etude, etc.) which should not exceed 5 minutes.
- Orchestral excerpts for your instrument, posted as PDFs.
- No need to bring auxiliary instruments (piccolo, english horn, bass clarinet, Eb clar., contrabassoon, etc.) unless new members desire to show special proficiency.
- Please Note: If multiple parts are included on your instrument’s audition PDF, please only prepare the first part for new members. Returning members wishing to remain on their previous parts may prepare those excepts.
