The William and Mary Symphony Orchestra has gone on both domestic and international tours over the years.
Domestic
The domestic tour takes us to the NOVA and DC area once a year to perform a side-by-side concert with a professional ensemble, typically the Virginia Chamber Orchestra. Awards received by WMSO include the third prize in 2017 in the college division of The American Prize, and the American Prize “special judges’ citation for exceptional orchestra of Non-Music Majors” in 2018.
International
WMSO aims to travel abroad for an international tour once every four years to perform.
In 2002, WMSO took its first international tour to Italy and Sicily. In 2017, the orchestra traveled to Paris, France, performing at renowned venues including the Église de la Madeleine. In 2023, WMSO visited Prague and Vienna to perform in Prague’s Klementium Mirror Chapel.
WMSO’s ability to go on tour and perform for other communities is a special opportunity for all members as we get to share our talent and passion for music outside of the William and Mary campus. Therefore, it is our yearly goal to make these tours possible, and we cannot do so without your love and support. If you’d love to help us make these memories, please visit our donation page. We greatly appreciate your contributions!
