The William & Mary Symphony Orchestra Board are members of the orchestra elected to manage the Symphony’s administrative and social functions. They work closely with our director, Professor Grandis. Our mission is to create an enjoyable and inclusive atmosphere for all orchestra members.

Langston Spencer-Hamm

Langston is a senior double-majoring in finance and economics from Stafford, Virginia. A dedicated percussionist since 7th grade, with experience spanning symphonic bands, wind ensembles, and the marching band drumline, he has been a proud member of the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra since his freshman year. As President, Langston is passionate about leading the orchestra in fostering a welcoming community and aims to make this season unforgettable for both the orchestra and our audience. Outside the concert hall, you can find him on the tennis courts, working with the Student Assembly, exploring local food spots, or cycling around Williamsburg. Upon graduation, Langston hopes to pursue a career in the private credit market, specializing in debt financing for high-growth startups.

Katie Peterson

Katie is a junior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania double majoring in International Relations and Chinese Studies. She began learning violin when she was six years old and has played in a variety of school and regional orchestras. Katie has been a member of WMSO since her freshman fall. Besides music on campus, you can also find her doing research, playing tennis, walking backwards as a tour guide, and enjoying time with friends. She spent this past summer studying abroad in China at Beijing Normal University.

Rhett Klauer

Rhett is a senior from Richmond, VA studying Cybersecurity & Music. He has played viola for over 10 years now, has been with WMSO since his freshman year, and worked at a violin shop for the past 2 years. Outside of music, Rhett enjoys learning about cybercrime, watching and playing sports, and working on his car.

Publicity Director
William Awuah

William is a sophomore from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania majoring in Marketing & Data Science. He has played viola since 4th grade and recently picked up violin. As a musician, he has been a member of many vocal and instrumental ensembles within his PA community and on-campus. He joined WMSO his freshman fall and is also a member of The Stairwells A Capella Group and The W&M Choir. On campus, you can usually find William at the Rec, working shifts in Swem, or studying in The Center.

Cecilia Berger

Cecilia is a junior from Arlington, VA majoring in chemistry. She has been playing the violin since age three and has performed with various ensembles, including the DC Youth Orchestra and 9th Street Chamber Music. She has been a member of WMSO since fall of her freshman year. Outside of music, Cecilia enjoys acting in theatrical productions, birdwatching, and painting.

Miranda Husband-Wood

Miranda is a Senior from Chesapeake, Virginia majoring in Human Health & Physiology. She’s been playing viola since the 5th grade in both symphonic and chamber orchestras. She has been a member of William & Mary Symphony since fall of her freshman year. In her free time, she loves playing and writing piano/guitar. Outside of music, she loves hiking and traveling with friends.

Jenna Hohmann

Jenna is a junior from Pittsburgh, PA double majoring in CAMS Applied Statistics and Economics. I’ve been playing violin since 4th grade and have played with WMSO since my freshman fall. Outside of WMSO, I love reading, going on scenic runs, or eating. I also work as an Undergraduate Research Fellow with the Ignite Global Health Lab on campus. One fun fact about me is that I’ve met Hilary Hahn in person!

Lana Kelly

Lana is a sophomore planning to double major in either Chemistry and Geology or Marine Science and Geology. She is from Chesapeake, Virginia, and has played varying instruments since the fifth grade. She now plays Contrabassoon and Bassoon for WMSO and has since her freshman year fall semester. Outside of WMSO, she also plays in William and Mary’s Wind Ensemble, Pep Band, Wham Bam Big Band, and participates in the International Relations Club and Delta Tau Omicron music fraternity. Lana also works with the Coastal Geology lab at VIMS.

Amelia Troll

Amelia is a sophomore majoring in physics and hailing from Baltimore, MD. She began playing horn in 5th grade and has since participated in various orchestral ensembles, including Maryland All-State and the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra. Outside of WMSO, Amelia also sings with the Intonations acapella and spends her free time hiking and doing any craft she can get her hands on.

Caleb Paris

Caleb is a sophomore from Williamsburg, Virginia majoring in Computer Science. He has been playing trumpet since the 6th grade and has performed in multiple orchestras and wind ensembles, including the Bay Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Bay Youth Wind Symphony. Outside of orchestra, Caleb is a member of ACM and Pep Band and enjoys cybersecurity, traveling, drum corps, and computer hardware and software.
