Audition Information

Membership in the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra is open by audition to all members of the William & Mary community. All new and returning members are required to audition.

Auditions for Fall 2024 will be held in the Music Building on the following dates and times.

Wednesday, August 28 – Room 116, 9am-11:50am, 2:00pm-6pm
Thursday, August 29 – Room 116, 9am-12pm, 1pm-6pm
Friday, August 30 – Room 116, 9am-12pm, 1pm-6pm
Saturday, August 31 – Room 116, 9am-12pm, 1pm-6pm

(Please write your full name, email, and instrument under your desired date and timeslot. Do not edit anyone else’s entry!)


Each audition will last no more than 15 minutes and consists of:

  • A selection of a solo work for your instrument (sonata, concerto, etude, etc.) which should not exceed 5 minutes.
  • Orchestral excerpts for your instrument, posted as PDFs.
  • There is no need to bring auxiliary instruments (piccolo, english horn, bass clarinet, E clar., contrabassoon, etc.) unless new members desire to show special proficiency.
