2025 Halloween Concert

Saturday October 25, 7:30 PM – Concert Hall, Music Building

A few years ago, WMSO presented rare symphonic works by Max d’Ollone, an unfairly forgotten contemporary of Debussy and Ravel, which hadn’t been performed in a century. Some of the works were American premiere, others were world premiere recordings. Dr. Grandis published an article in the Journal of the International Conductors Guild, and now, WSMO’s recordings are used as references for professional conductors who are considering programming late 19th-early 20th French music but would like something different than Ravel and Debussy.

WMSO’s upcoming concert is again a historical endeavor, resurrecting symphonic works by Paul Ladmirault, considered to be one of the most gifted students of Gabriel Fauré, and also a contemporary of Debussy and Ravel. “Valse triste” has been professionally recorded, “Rhapsodie Gaelique” had an unofficial radio recording in 1961, but “Epousailles” and “Le Roman de Tristan” haven’t been performed in a century and never recorded. The orchestra’s performance will be again, American premieres, and world premiere recordings.

Ticket sales begin on 10/1/2025 at 12:00 AM (ET)
